Dateline: Sunday, March 2, 1986. The Birmingham Stallions held on to defeat division rival Jacksonville by a score of 33-31. The win puts the Stallions in first in the South and one of two undefeated teams in the league. Birmingham’s smothering run defense held the Bulls to only 42 total yards rushing. They also sacked the quarterback 5 times and intercepted him twice.
In spite of the withering defense, Jacksonville managed to stay close to Birmingham the whole game and simply ran out of time at the end. They scored their last touchdown with only 42 seconds left. A possible miracle come back died when the final onside kick went to Birmingham and they simply lined up in victory formation.
Birmingham tries to stay unbeaten in Denver.
