Dateline: Sunday, March 17, 1986. For the second straight week, Vegas took part in the highest scoring game of the week. This time, they came out on top, besting the Denver Gold in overtime on a Randall Cunningham pass. Cunningham also helped Vegas tie the game in regulation with a touchdown pass.
Unlike last week, Cunningham got some help from the running game. Lavale Thomas ran for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns to complement Cunningham’s 121 yards and 2 touchdowns. The 300+ yards rushing represents the most this year by a team.
Las Vegas hosts Boston next week. Denver is on a bye.
