Boston Breakers 62, Las Vegas Ace 38

Dateline: Friday, March 22, 1986. The best team in the USFL this year faced off against one of the most entertaining offensive teams in Las Vegas. Matt Dunigan and the Breakers cooled the Ace a bit, allowing them “only 38” points after outbursts of 41 and 62 in their previous two games. Dunigan, an early favorite for MVP, threw 6 touchdowns against the Ace.

Ace quarterback, Randall Cunningham who spurred the Ace in those previous games, also cooled off some in this game. The young quarterback threw for 3 touchdowns, but also 4 interceptions. The Breakers also kept him under 100 yards rushing and with no touchdowns on the ground in the game.

Both teams host divison rivals next week. Boston has Washington and Vegas plays the Express.
