
Dateline: Saturday, March 23, 1986. Philadelphia took care of business at home against Oakland to move above .500 and take position to perhaps make the playoffs this year. After finishing last in the division last year, the fans welcomed the return to solid football by the Stars.
The loss also puts Oakland at 4-3, but they still have a lead over the Ace and Wranglers in the West. The Invaders just couldn’t put together many sustained drives against Philadelphia’s defense on the afternoon. But, rookie running back Nu’u Fa’aola ran for 89 yards and 1 touchdown, indicating a bright future for the young man.
Both teams have a chance to gain ground in the division. Oakland travels to last place Arizona while Philadelphia hosts the powerhouse Generals.
