Dateline: Sunday, March 24, 1986. The New Jersey Generals moved to 6-2 Sunday afternoon. The win keeps them in second place in the division behind the undefeated Boston Breakers. Behind a solid performance from both quarterback Doug Flutie and league leading rusher Herschel Walker, the Generals won in spite of facing some challenge early.
Arizona led 13-3 about halfway through the third quarter. Then Walker and Flute took over, scoring consecutive touchdowns. Paul Day added on some insurance late in the fourth to secure the victory. The loss puts Arizona at 1-6 and already thinking about what changes to make in the offseason.
Arizona hosts Oakland and New Jersey travels to Philadelphia next week.
