
Dateline: Saturday, March 29, 1986. Memphis pulled off a stunner in Alabama Saturday afternoon. They defeated the one loss Stallions through a balanced attack. Running back Topper Clemmons gained 117 yards and scored one touchdown.
Quarterback Kent Austin threw for two touchdowns, the game winner to Clemmons. Birmingham held a 20-14 lead for almost an entire quarter before Austin and Clemmons hooked up for that touchdown. With the win, Memphis moves to 2-6 on the year.
Memphis hosts Philadelphia and Boston comes into Birmingham next week for a tough game.
