Los Angeles Express 38, Denver Gold 36

Dateline: Saturday, April 12, 1986. After storming out to a 38-0 lead, Los Angeles hung on to that lead in spite of a furious comeback attempt by Denver. Eric Dickerson and Frank Seurer both got 2 touchdowns each for the Express in that first half. Duane Gunn added a 61 yard punt return.

In the second half, Bob Gagliano caught fire, throwing for four touchdowns for the gold. Alas, it wasn’t enough and even though a fumble gave Denver one final shot, Los Angeles held on to the victory to move to 7-3 and tops in the Pacific.

LA plays in Birmingham. Denver travels to New Orleans.
