Pittsburgh Maulers 20, Oklahoma Outlaws 26

Dateline: Sunday, April 27, 1986. Oklahoma finds themselves in the unusual position of battling for a playoff spot after their win over the Pittsburgh Maulers. Standing at 5-6 and in third in the division, they would take the sixth seed if the season ended right now.

Pittsburgh, who started to go on a bit of a run, stumbled against the Outlaws and are struggling to stay out of the basement in their division. After tasting some success last year with Brian Sipe at quarterback, the Maulers appear poised to revert back to their expansion year form this year. If this keeps up, it’s only a matter of time before some changes are made to help the team.

Oklahoma hosts Birmingham next week. Pittsburgh is off to Arizona.
