
Dateline: Friday, May 9, 1986. Michigan held on to defeat Philadelphia Friday night at home. After taking a 21-3 lead, they allowed 18 unansweredd points to the Stars. A Novo Bojovic 40 yard field goal about halfway through the foruth quarter gave them the lead. Backup quarterback Bobby Hebert, playing in place of an injured Jim Harbaugh led the team. Coach Jim Stanley said they are just sitting Harbaugh out of an abundance of caution because they don’t want to risk the young man’s career.
After an interception following Michigan’s go ahead field goal, Philadephia forced a 3 and out. They then went on a 9 play, 41 yard drive and lined up for the tying field goal with about half a minute left. Landeta pulled the 42 yard kick left and Bobby Hebert took a knee to close out the game.
Philadelphia hosts Pittsburgh and Michigan welcome Oklahoma.
