Pittsburgh Maulers 12, Philadelphia Stars 23

Dateline: Saturday May 16, 1986. Philadelphia won the latest battle of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. They played just well enough to beat the Maulers, mostly due to their defense. Philadelphia managed to gain only 286 yards in the game, but they made the most of their opportunites and came out with the win.

After Pittsburgh’s promising young quarterback went out with an in jury, it fell on Tom Flick to carry Pittsburgh offense. He proved mostly capable, throwing for 253 yards and a touchdown. However, Pittsburgh’s running game continued to flounder with Rozier leading with only 39 yards on 11 carries.

Both teams are at home next week, Philly against San Antonio and Pittsburgh hosts the Invaders.
