Washington Federals 16, Memphis Showboats 20

Dateline: Sunday, May 18, 1986. Memphis scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come back and defeat Washington on Sunday afternoon. True to form, one of the touchdowns came on defense with an interception return.

Washington led 16-7 going into the fourth. They built the lead with long drives and ball control. Their defense just couldn’t stop Memphis any longer. Then Matt Robinson made the mistake of the game on the pick six.

Both teams are at home next week. Washington against Oakland and Memphis vs. Oklahoma.
