Denver Gold 34, Philadelphia Stars 24

Dateline: Sunday, May 24, 1986. Denver defeated Philadelphia Sunday afternoon to put their record to 10-5. They remain near the top in the competitive West with Los Angeles and surprise Las Vegas. Quarterback Bob Gagliano connected on 4 touchdown passes to three different receivers.

That meant that Philly’s QB Chuck Fusina’s 3 touchdowns were not enough for the win. Philadelphia also struggled on third down due to their run game being stifled. And, they commited 5 penalties for a loss of 45 yards on the day.

Both teams have a division game next week. Philly travels to Pittsburgh and Denver hosts Arizona.
