Dateline: Sunday, May 25, 1986. Oklahoma pulled off a surprise win against Michigan Sunday afternoon to keep their improbable playoff hopes alive. They went up 28-0 behind three rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown by Rick Johson. They never trailed in the game as they matched Michigan score for score down the stretch.
In spite of Michigan going on their own run and making it look like a classic ABA game, they only got close enough to grab the lead late in the game. Their run game struggled mightily, gaining only 31 yards on 9 carries. The early lead put them in a pinch and they needed to throw. Hebert responded with 4 touchdowns, but he also threw 3 interceptions.
Both teams are home next week. Oklahoma against Houston and Michigan hosts San Antonio.
