New Jersey Generals 25, Washington Federals 34

Dateline: Monday, May 26, 1986. Washington pulled off an upset Monday night aginst New Jersey for a lone bright spot in what’s proven to be a tough season for the Federals. They built a 21-0 lead on 3 rushing touchdowns from 3 different players.

New Jersey fough back to within 6 late in the 3rd. But their come back was thwarted by another Washington touchdown and they were only able to muster a final field goal for the remainder of the game. The loss puts New Jersey’s seeding at risk since Philadelphia has come alive at the end of the year and challenged them in the race.

Washington travels to LA. New Jersey is off to Pittsburgh.
