Houston Gamblers 37, Denver Gold 33

Dateline: Sunday, June 8, 1986. Houston stole a game in Denver and reminded the Gold that they will be one of the teams to beat in the playoffs. Both teams finish at 12-6 and with the top two spots in the postseason. So, they get to sit back and relax next week and anticipate their opponents.

In spite of a home game to end the season, Denver just didn’t have the firepower tonight to keep up with the Gamblers. They allowed 5 touchdowns to Jim Kelly, who looked like his old self again. The Gold kept the game close and even led late, but Machine Gun Kelly blew a hole through their defense for the winning score.
