Dateline: Sunday, June 8, 1986. Michigan makes the playoffs in spite of a late season 2 game swoon against San Antonio and Oakland. They have the three spot and will host Okalhoma in the wild card round. After a hot start with rookie quarterback Jim Harbaugh, they rested the young man for the end of the season out of precaution. They hope to see him back in the saddle next week.
Oakland just misses the playoffs at 8-10, but finished the season on a high note. They have two young running backs in John Williamsn and Nu’u Fa’aola that they can use to build around their offense. At 37, Besana may have one more year in him, but they definitely have to start thinking about the future at quarterback.
