Musings from The Pride
Issue #86.2: February 1986
Hello fellow Panthers fans,
Season so far: After a successful start to the season, 2-1 with wins against the cursed Blitz and a blowout of the Denver Gold, the Panthers lost a close one in a shootout vs. the Houston Gamblers. The Panthers put up a whopping 48 points, but surrendered 52 and allowed two Gamblers to put up over 100 yards rushing. No sweat, though, as the Panthers are back on the prowl with a 4 game home stand after a couple on the road.
Player Spotlight: Jim Harbaugh, QB. When Bobby Hebert announced his intentions to leave for the NFL, some Panthers fans were left wondering, “What next?” So far, it hasn’t taken long to answer that question. Rookie quarterback Jim Harbaugh has stepped in and led this team from the start. In three games, he threw for 1002 yards, 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. The Michigan native plays for more than just stats and wants to lead this team to the championship.
Upcoming Games
- March 2: – at San Antonio. The Panthers look to bounce back from the Houston game with a big one against the Gunslingers.
- March 9: at New Orleans. The Brass are much improved this year and the Panthers are ready to face off against the boys from the Big Easy.
- March 17: Chicago Blitz. We already beat them in their house. Time to complete the sweep and bury the bums once and for all.
- March 23: Memphis Showboats. Time to avenge the loss from week 2 of 1985. They’ve been holding on to that anger for over a year.
- March 31: The Gamblers come to the Silverdome. Bring yourselves to this Monday night clash and BRING THE NOISE
Our Thoughts: 4-1, maybe even 5-0 if we can take out the Gamblers. 6-2 or 7-1. Hoepfully, we can avoid the fall of 1984 and ride the high into the second half of the season and the playoffs
Fan Corner: All fans are encouranged to show up early to the home games and enjoy the various fan fests that the team puts on.
March 17: Bury the Blitz! will be the rallying cry of that week.
March 23: Jim Harbaugh Photo Night. First 10,000 fans will get a signed photo of the man himself.
March 31: Revenge is a Dish best served with Defense.
