
Dateline: Monday, March 9, 1986. On a pleasant evening in Oakland, the Invaders beat the visiting Gunslingers handily. They wracked up over 270 yards rushing while holding San Antonio to only 58. They gained 25 first downs to Oakland’s 16. And, they outgained San Antonio 446 – 225.
San Antonio briefly held hope, tying the game at 7-7 10 minutes into the first quarter. Oakland outscored them 14-3 the rest of that quarter and controlled the game until San Antonio scored two touchdowns once the game was out of reach.
Both teams play at home next week, San Antonio against Oklahoma and Oakland against New Jersey.
