Dateline: Sunday, April 27, 1986. Memphis came out on top at home in the battle between two 3-7 teams. Quarterback Kent Austin threw two touchdown passes for Memphis and Harry Sydney added a run for touchdown.
Arizona just didn’t have enough offense in the game to compete. Their only touchdown came with 3 minutes left in the game, effectively in garbage time. They gained less than 300 yards. Not a single rusher went for over 40.
Arizona hosts Pittsburgh next week. Memphis travels to San Antonio.
