Michigan Panthers 44, Washington Federals 41

Dateline: Sunday, April 27, 1986. Michigan won a wild game Sunday afternoon and evening in Washington. The teams went back and forth all game. The teams looked to head to overtime after a late touchdown and costly missed extra point by Washington. However, Albert Bentley returned the kickoff 32 yards before Jim Harbaugh led the Panthers on a quick drive for the go ahead field goal.

Even though the missed extra point ended up not mattering, it would have given them the lead late in the game. Maybe that would have changed their strategy and Michigan wouldn’t have been able to drive for the go ahead field goal. Alas, it was all for naught and the Federals lost a heartbreaker.

Michigan has a tough test against Boston. Washington is home against Denver.
