New Jersey Generals 26, Pittsburgh Maulers 30

Dateline: Sunday, June 1, 1986. Pittsburgh stole a game from New Jersey at home to end a forgetable season on a high note. After Mike Tomczak helped the Maulers buold a small lead, Jim Karsatos came in to finish the job in spite of a late interception return for touchdown.

New Jersey needed the victory to sneak past a suddenly frisky Philadelphia team. However, in spite of a solid game from Herschel Walker, who rushed 16 times for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, the Generals just couldn’t get the job done.

They have one more chance to get that win against Tampa next week.
