New Jersey Generals 3, Tampa Bay Bandits 19

Dateline: Saturday, June 7, 1986. New Jersey squandered a chance at a higher playoff seed Saturday as they fell to the Tampa Bay Bandits in a low scoring affair. The Generals managed only 223 total yards and 12 first downs in the defeat. As a result, they take the 6 spot and have to play Jacksonville in the swamp next week.

With the victory, Tampa will host Philadelphia in the other East wildcard match. Thanks to Gary Anderson, who made up for the struggles of back up quarterback Frank Reich, the Bandits end the season on a high note and ensure that two playoff games will be played in the state of Florida next week.
