New Orleans Brass 21, Oakland Invaders 52

Invaders Run Wild in 52-21 Rout Over Winless Brass

The Oakland Invaders remained perfect on the season with a dominant 52-21 victory over the New Orleans Brass at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, powered by a relentless ground game that amassed 301 rushing yards. MVP John Williams led the charge with a career day, rumbling for 206 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries, while backfield mate Shawn Faulkner added 95 yards and two scores of his own. The Invaders’ offense was unstoppable in the first half, scoring on five consecutive possessions to build a 35-0 halftime lead, with quarterback Fred Besana completing an efficient 21 of 26 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

New Orleans’ offense struggled to find rhythm until garbage time, with Rusty Hilger throwing three late touchdowns after the game was already out of reach. The Brass’ offensive line was overwhelmed by Oakland’s aggressive front, allowing four sacks and failing to establish any rushing attack (just 45 yards on 12 carries). Oakland’s defense was particularly stout in critical situations, forcing two turnovers and holding New Orleans to just 3-of-11 on third down conversions. The Invaders’ special teams also contributed with Bruce Hill’s 91-yard kickoff return touchdown in the fourth quarter that snuffed out any hope of a Brass comeback.

With the win, Oakland improves to 3-0 and establishes itself as a legitimate championship contender in the Western Conference. The Invaders’ balanced offensive attack – which converted all six red zone opportunities into touchdowns – proved too much for a struggling New Orleans squad that falls to 0-3. While Hilger’s 314 passing yards and three late touchdowns provided some positives for the Brass, their defense’s inability to stop the run (allowing 6.0 yards per carry) remains a major concern. Oakland will look to continue their momentum next week, while New Orleans searches for answers to turn around their disappointing start to the season.
