Dateline: Friday, March 15, 1986. On a warm Friday evening in Texas, the Outlaws and Gunslingers battled. Those in attendance were initially treated to a defensive battle, with Oklahoma leading 17-10 after 3 quarters. Things exploded in the 4th with both teams combining for 38 total points and Oklahoma winning on a Rick Johnson hail mary pass to Al Williams.
The loss is a heartbreaker for San Antonio, who outgained Oklahoma 577-392, gained 18 more first downs, dominated the time of possession batlle, and outplayed the Outlaws in nearly every facet of the game. The normally anemic San Antonio run game gained almost 300 yards. Meanwhile, new Outlaw running back Jeremy Fowler gained only 26 yards on 10 carries.
San Antonio hosts Tampa Bay next week while the Outlaws have a bye week to celebrate their win.
