Okay, working tirelessly to bring you these final two episodes. For real, this time. I finally put together a schedule that should help me to juggle all of these projects for the next month or so. Then, I will do the same for November. Because you deserve The Dragon Republic, Episode 5 and 6.
These chapters represent change. Everyone undergoes some type of change. In addition, the things happening in the chapters echo similarly in today’s American society. Because I waited, I get to talk about dumb stuff like the “Department of War” and even dumber stuff like how everyone lost their minds for a week after Charlie Kirk got shot.
Give it a listen and let me know what you think. What did I do right? What can be improved? I want to make this work and take constructive criticism well. With no additional delay, download and listen to The Dragon Republic Episode 5. I can’t wait to hear what you think.
Two episodes in one week?! Can we make it 4 in 2 and finish this thing out to get back on track for the end of the year? Only time will tell. For now, though, here’s The Dragon Republic Episode 4. Continuing from the last episode, things are even crazier than that.
The Republic Army is in shambles. There’s some high level assassinations. New information comes to light that may upend everything and lead to a new world order. All that, plus colonialism, the dime store Nazi shit in America, and a discussion of religion. Who ever said this is polite company. Come argue with me!

Okay, finally back with Dragon Republic Episode 2. I thought that summer might bring some stability to the show and it may yet. I put together a schedule that hopefully works for this month and then I can spend some time while we are in the UK trying to figure out how things might go for the rest of the year. Thank you for your patience.
This episode (in addition to tweeting birds, a squeaky fan, and a train in the distance, hey that’s what you get when you forget to close the window while recording), this section explores the relationships of the characters and sets up the main plot points. TLDR: Everyone is using Rin and she just loves the attention.

After another two month hiatus, we return with a quick turnaround for the finale, Dragons of Eternity Episode 6. I went with a slightly different format this time, but I don’t think it’s all that noticable what changed or how. I only mention it in case anyone notices and wonders what happened. Spoiler Alert: I loved the ending and can’t wait for more.

Why has it taken over two months to release a 15 – 20 minute podcast? I discuss this in Dragons of Eternity Episode 5. Actually, that’s a lie. I invoke “don’t ask, don’t tell” before diving right back in. I talk about Chapters 29 through 36. Then, I give initial thoughts, talk about characters, world building, and pacing before my liked least and liked best. Next episode to come this weekend to finish the book finally.

Another month and a half hiatus, but I finally got around to recording and uploading Dragons of Eternity Episode 4. I talk some in this episode about why it took so long this time. But, as you can see in the schedule, I will get it done soon and finish out the rest of the year strong. I mean, we need to keep hope alive in this bleak time. I discuss that bleak time before giving a summary of chapters 23 through 28. Some amazing things happen in this section and I can’t wait to get back to reading the book for next episode. Hopefully out next week.

After a ridiculously long unplanned absence, I’m back again with Noob’s Book Club. In Dragons of Eternity Episode 2, I give a summary of chapters 9 – 16. After that, I discuss world building, character profiles and development, how this particular series of “requels” gets it right where others maybe didn’t. Then, I wonder some about what comes next in the book.
Things keep moving at a steady pace in this section. The companions get together, someone meets a nearly mortal end (I was wrong. It was Riverwind who nearly died in the original trilogy, not Sturm), the gods are back in a big way. Even though things look dark, they usually find a way back into the light, if only in fiction. Beware. It gets a bit dark at times when I discuss current events.

After a ridiculously long unplanned absence, I’m back again with Noob’s Book Club. In Dragons of Eternity Episode 1, I give a summary of the first eight chapters of the book. After that, I discuss world building, character profiles and development, how this particular series of “requels” gets it right where others maybe didn’t. Then, I wonder some about what comes next in the book.
Overall, a solid start to the final chapter in this story. Some might call it lazy writing to lean on the old in order to sell the new. But, it makes sense because you can introduce a whole new generation of fans and show them why so many people love your books and stories. Besides, they give us another good version of time travel. And, you can’t ever go wrong with that type of story.

As promised, I finished The Poppy War in record time. So focused was I on getting the series done, I forgot to use one of my favorite words, penultimate, to describe the previous episode. Nevertheless, we arrive at the end of the book with The Poppy War episode 6. One thing I can say about the book is that it’s a hell of a ride.
After the usual summary, I talk about whether someone who commit mass genocide is redeemable, decide the answer to that is no. I then move on to other topics like one way that I think war develops as a solution to society’s problems. Then, some more discussion of gods. My liked least and best follow fairly predictably before I finish with a plea to reddit to tell me if the book is good or not. Not really, but it makes sense in the context of the discussion.

Three episodes in one week? No problem. I just need to take a week long vacation to Cape Cod every other week. I mean, I won’t complain. However it happened, The Poppy War Episode 5 comes only a couple of days after the previous episode. And the next episode will come only a couple of days after this one. Let’s see if I keep that schedule next week when I start Dragons of Eternity.
After the summary, I talk some about sibling rivalry, the nature of leadership, and several other topics all while I reckon with the absolute horror that awaited me in chapters 20 and 21. Be warned. It’s gruesome. Even, so I find something that I like best and a reason to keep reading (other than to finish the book and series). Come back in a couple of days for the final episode!
